London: Former British Chancellor of Indian origin Rishi Sunak became the Prime Minister of Britain on Monday (October 24). Sunak became Britain’s first Indian-origin prime minister, replacing former prime minister Liz Truss. Sunak, the first Indian-origin UK PM, now also holds the title of becoming the youngest UK Prime Minister in modern history at the age of 42. Rishi Sunak in his first address to the nation after being elected PM said, “I pledge that I will serve you with honesty and humility and I will work day and night for the British people.”
Rishi Sunak will take oath as PM on October 28 and the cabinet is likely to be formed on October 29.

The new UK PM said in a brief speech, “I am humbled and honored to have the support of my parliamentary colleagues and to be elected as leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party. This is the greatest fortune of my life. I am very grateful for that.”
He said, “The UK is a great country, but we face a profound economic challenge. What we need now is stability and unity and I will make it my top priority to bring my party and the country together because that is the only way.” From which we can overcome. Challenges and build a better future for our children and grandchildren. I pledge to serve you with honesty and humility.”

Rishi grew up watching his parents serving our local community with dedication. His father was the GP of an NHS family and Rishi’s mother ran her local chemist’s shop. Rishi wanted to bring about the same positive change in the people as his Member of Parliament and Rishi was first elected to represent this wonderful constituency in 2015 and was re-elected in 2017 and 2019. An alumnus of Oxford and Stanford University, Sunak is married to Akshata Murthy, daughter of billionaire businessman NR Narayana Murthy, who founded Infosys.
