Indian politics needs more people like her: Jairam Ramesh on New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern | India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh congratulated thursday new zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardernwho has announced that she is stepping down as the leader of her country, and that “Indian politics needs more people like her”.
Ardern told reporters in Napier that February 7 would be her last day in office. She will hold her seat as MLA till the general election, which she said will be held on 14 October.
“Great cricket commentator, Vijay Merchant Once said about retiring at the peak of his career: Go when people ask why he is leaving rather than why he is not going. Kiwi PM, Jacinda Ardern has just said she is following Merchant’s principle,” Congress general secretary Ramesh said on Twitter.
“Indian politics needs more people like him,” he added.
Ardern’s sympathy for the country’s worst mass-shooting and health-driven response to the coronavirus pandemic have made her an international icon, but she has faced mounting criticism at home.
