Former Captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli Struggling for running runs this season Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Apart from his half-century in the last match against Gujarat Titans (GT) and a scintillating 48 runs in the tournament vs Mumbai Indians (MI), Kohli has been mostly out of form. The right-handed batsman has so far scored 186 runs in 10 matches in IPL 2022 at an average of 20.67. According to statistics, former RCB batsman AB de Villiers Speaking to AFP, Kohli had a word of advice.
De Villiers, known as ‘Mr 360’ for his strokeplay and ‘Superman’ for his amazingly agile fielding, says he was lucky not to score too many bad runs with the bat during his career . However, he sympathizes with his close friend, Indian superstar Virat Kohli, with whom he played in the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The “King Kohli” was going through a rough patch including two consecutive golden ducks before scoring 58 on Saturday. He has also failed to score a century in over 100 matches across all formats.
De Villiers said, “As a batsman you are only one or two bad innings away from poor form.”
“If it keeps coming to you it’s hard to back off.”
De Villiers insists that he is not in touch with Kohli but says the conflict becomes largely a matter of mind. “I can’t put one cent into it but it is the mind and the power of the mind that is the main battle,” he said.
“You don’t become a bad player overnight. Virat knows it and I know it. I think it’s your way of thinking and setting your mind. Whenever you play you need to have a clear mind and a fresh mind. Energy is needed and then you can find a way out of a hole.”
While de Villiers made a lot of money from the T20 format, he is a staunch defender of the Test game. In 114 Tests between 2004 and 2018, he scored 8,765 runs at an average of over 50 for South Africa.
“Test cricket is my number one format,” he said. “I think most players feel the same way. There’s nothing more rewarding than being out with your team for five days.

“This is the final challenge. I don’t know why anyone would say they don’t want that challenge in the toughest format.
“If there was no Test cricket, I would stop watching cricket.”
