An Indian national is among two people killed in a gas cylinder explosion at a restaurant in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier this week an Indian national and a Pakistani national were killed in a gas cylinder explosion at a restaurant in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, in which 106 Indians were also injured, according to a media report.

A total of 120 people were injured in the blast on Monday afternoon, Khaleej Times reported on Wednesday.

Two people were killed and a Pakistani national was killed and 120 others were injured in a gas explosion at a restaurant in Abu Dhabi, the newspaper said.

The Indian embassy in the Gulf country confirmed that one Indian national was killed and 106 Indians were injured, it said, citing a statement from the mission.

The Indian mission said that it is in regular touch with the local authorities to bring back the bodies of the deceased at the earliest.

“The embassy officials have contacted the family of the deceased and are providing all possible help in a swift manner,” the statement said.

The embassy is also closely monitoring the condition of the injured admitted to hospitals in the Emirates.

Indians and Pakistanis make up the majority of the foreign workforce which powers the emirate.
