India’s demand for coal is still at its peak: Prahlad Joshi

The Center on Wednesday said coal demand in India is still at its peak and dry fuel will continue to play an important role in the energy mix till 2040 and beyond.

In his inaugural address, while presiding over the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Coal, Shri Joshi said that in the global world there is a push towards coal to energy transition.

“However, for India, coal, being an economical source of energy, holds prime importance to meet its energy needs, driven by a growing economy,” he said.
