India’s first reaction after being injured in firing on Imran Khan’s convoy: ‘We are keeping a close watch’

New Delhi: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was injured when his convoy was shot during a rally on Thursday (November 3, 2022). The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president was leading a protest march demanding mid-term elections when the firing took place. Khan, who is reportedly injured in his right leg, was taken to the hospital. Reacting to this news, India said that it is keeping a close watch on the development.

Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif condemns firing on Imran Khan

Meanwhile, Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif condemned the firing on Imran Khan and prayed for his recovery. He also directed the Home Minister of Pakistan to give an immediate report on the incident.

“The federal government will provide all possible help to the Punjab government for security and investigation. Violence should have no place in the politics of our country,” he said.

Imran Khan suffered a calf injury after he was shot at his convoy in Wazirabad, about 200 km from Islamabad.

A member of his party said several colleagues were also injured amid reports of one being killed.

Hundreds of people were in the convoy when Imran Khan was leading a protest march in Islamabad demanding mid-term elections.

Since being ousted via a parliamentary vote in April, the cricketer-turned-politician has held rallies across Pakistan, sparking protests against the Sharif-led government.
