An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bhubaneswar was on Friday diverted to Raipur due to poor visibility, informed the airport director. Bhubaneswar airport director said, “No flight operations started due to low visibility. Flight number IndiGo 2178 from Delhi to Bhubaneshwar was diverted to Raipur.”
This month, two IndiGo planes avoided a mid-air collision at the Bengaluru airport just after taking off on the morning of January 9.
Senior officials of aviation regulator DGCA said the incident was not recorded in any logbook nor was it reported by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials said two IndiGo aircraft – 6E455 (Bengaluru to Kolkata) and 6E246 (Bengaluru to Bhubaneshwar) – were involved in ‘separation violations’ at the Bengaluru airport.
A separation violation occurs when two aircraft exceed the minimum mandated vertical or horizontal distance in airspace.
Both these aircraft took off from the Bangalore airport in a span of about five minutes on the morning of January 9.
