New Delhi: Three Navy personnel have been killed in the blast on the warship. INS Ranveer At the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. The 11 injured sailors are undergoing treatment at the Naval Hospital INS Ashwini.
The explosion took place in an interior compartment of the ship. The Navy said that reacting quickly, the ship’s crew brought the situation under control, preventing any major damage.
INS Ranvir was on a cross coast operational deployment from the Eastern Naval Command and was soon to return to the base port. Navy officials said a board of inquiry has been ordered to probe the cause.
This is not the first accident involving a Navy ship in Mumbai. In August 2013, the submarine INS Sindhurakshak sank following explosions caused by a fire in Mumbai. 18 sailors died in the accident.
