New Delhi: Instagram is working on a new feature that will allow users to share others’ posts on their feed without taking a screenshot and then reposting it or going through another source, as reported by The Verge. In addition, Instagram is revamping its cross-platform sharing options. Now before direct-to-DM sharing it’s easy to share posts on Snapchat, Messenger or WhatsApp, which is similar to TikTok’s approach.

It should be noted that Instagram recently rolled back a test aimed at shifting the app towards an AI-powered feed of full-screen pictures and videos after a strong backlash, according to The Verge, on TikTok. in part its apparent slow metamorphosis.

TechCrunch says the ‘repost’ feature was spotted on Wednesday by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who posted the photos in a Twitter thread. Sharing someone else’s post for your own followers to see isn’t exactly new to Instagram users. Users are able to share public posts to their followers, but only through their Instagram Story or Direct Messages.

The tool can be compared to retweets on Twitter or the popular reshares on Facebook and Tumblr, which are also being tried on TikTok.
