‘Instagram has lost its soul’: Co-founder Kevin Systrom

New Delhi: Instagram, a social networking platform, has evolved into a marketplace for influencers, and its cofounder Kevin Systrom is not happy about it. “I think we’ve lost the core of what made Instagram Instagram,” Systrom remarked in an interview with tech journalist Kara Swisher on a podcast.

According to Systrom, who first used it to keep up with friends and family, Instagram has evolved into a business tool, as creators and marketers use the platform to generate revenue. In his opinion the commercialization of Instagram is his biggest regret. ,ALSO READ: Bizarre: Drunk man forgets to attend his own wedding in Bihar – see what happens next,

He claimed that Instagram’s “incentives are to go more commercial, more artists, more partnerships and more ad dollars,” which can have unintended social consequences, which is the problem. It has focused energy on “people living supposedly great lives without limits, doing admirable things, looking their best, and wearing admirable stuff,” he claimed. ,Also read: Will Rupee replace Dollar? According to him, this leads to a “terrible” dynamic where Instagram users think that what they see on the app are well-crafted facades that represent people’s real lives. He added, “When it comes to how hard life is, what people put on Instagram is just the tip of the iceberg.” It’s a competition to see who can be the best at everything.

The co-founder has actually seen Instagram’s growth on his feed. He claimed that some of his acquaintances no longer upload photos of their normal lives, only “#advertising”. In my opinion, this is not the Instagram we started with, Systrom said.

As a substitute app where users can be themselves and capture themselves in authentic situations, they set BeReal apart.

Five years after leaving Instagram in 2018 due to rising tensions with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Systrom has recently expressed her views on the social media platform. In 2012, he traded Instagram, which is now Meta, with Facebook for $1 billion. He is currently a founding member of Artifact, an AI-powered news app that was introduced at the beginning of the year.
