Instagram users may soon be getting likes on their stories

If you are a fan of Instagram like many others, then it might be good news for you that you may soon be getting likes on your Instagram Stories. The meta-owned app is testing a new feature that can let you like on your stories. Currently, the feature is visible to only a small group of people in the world, as confirmed by the company. However, the likes will only be seen by the person who posted the story and the company does not intend to make the number of likes publicly viewable.

A spokesperson for Meta, formerly known as Facebook, told TechCrunch that Instagram is working on a way for people to react to stories to help them connect more with the people they care about. was working, which could only be seen by the author.

Some users, who were part of those for whom the feature was currently available as part of the trial, said that they were able to see the feature and posted screenshots of the same. Obviously, such participants also get a notification after getting likes on their stories.

Currently, Instagram offers all its users to react to a story with eight emoji options including laugh, heart eye, celebration, clap, tear, fire, surprise and 100. They can only be seen by the person who posted the story and are not publicly visible. With stories being liked, it could give influencers a new way to measure how their stories work with audiences compared to posts. This new test comes a few months after Instagram gave its users the option to hide their number of likes on their posts.

Instagram is apparently experimenting with ways to engage users in Stories as it recently introduced a new ‘Add Your’ sticker that creates public threads in Stories.
