“Insult to cycle is an insult to the nation”: Akhilesh Yadav targets PM’s bombshell

Uttar Pradesh Elections: Akhilesh Yadav hits back at PM Modi’s statement that “terrorists choose cycles”.

new Delhi:

Akhilesh Yadav Hitting back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks of “terrorists choosing bicycles” at an election rally in Uttar Pradesh today, he said that “insulting a cycle is an insult to the entire country”.

The Samajwadi Party leader’s response was framed in a poem in Hindi on his party’s election symbol bicycle as “the ride of the common man” and the pride of the villages.

“The wheel connects the farmers to their fields, lays the foundation of prosperity. The wheel takes our daughters to school, rising above social shackles, it runs ahead, untouched by inflation. The wheel is the ride of the common man, rural India I am proud of. Insulting a cycle is an insult to the entire country.”

Yesterday, PM Modi made derogatory remarks linking the Samajwadi Party’s election symbol to terrorists, in reference to the 49 people convicted of the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bombings.

“Today, I am mentioning this because some political parties have gone soft on terrorists. The blasts were carried out in two ways. First was at 50-60 places in the city, and then after two hours, there was an explosion. In a vehicle, relatives, officials and leaders were going there to the hospital. Many people also died there,” PM Modi said at a public meeting in Hardoi.

“In the initial blasts, the bombs were planted on cycles… I wonder why they (terrorists) opted for cycles,” the prime minister said.

He also accused the Samajwadi Party of withdrawing cases against the accused in the 2006 (Varanasi) and Ayodhya and Lucknow (2007) blasts.

He said, “In 14 cases related to terrorist attacks in UP, the Samajwadi government ordered withdrawal of cases registered against several terrorists. These people were involved in the blast, and the Samajwadi government did not allow these terrorists to be prosecuted. ” This was the “return gift” of the Samajwadi Party.

The day the PM was campaigning in the third round of assembly elections in UP, the ruling BJP is facing a tough challenge from Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party.

The results of elections in UP and four other states will be declared on March 10.
