Extended Media/LBI Entertainment And 101 Studios announced today that two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner will star as Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist David Armstrong, who — through an exciting and perilous journey — uncovers the mystery of how Sackler The family and Purdue Pharma fueled a national nightmare.
In a four-year investigation, Armstrong discovered evidence that, in order to maximize his profits, members of the Sackler family knew and supported Purdue’s concealment of the potency of the drug OxyContin and the risks of addiction. Since the release of OxyContin, more than two million Americans have died from overdoses related to prescription painkillers.
The film will be written and directed by award-winning husband-and-wife filmmakers Aaron Gaudette and Geeta Pulpili (Beth the Harvest Sky, Queenpins).

Jeremy Renner has established himself as one of Hollywood’s most versatile and respected actors. Most recently, Jeremy starred as the titular character in Marvel’s series Hawkeye for Disney+ and is currently playing the lead role in the Paramount+ drama series Mayor of Kingstown, which will replace Rainer as Wind River producer/writer/director.
