iPhone maker Foxconn India employee hospitalized after food poisoning

A source familiar with the matter said that several employees of the Foxconn India unit, which makes iPhones for Apple Inc., were hospitalized on Saturday after suffering from food poisoning.

A second source said earlier this week there was food poisoning at Foxconn’s dormitory, where most of its employees live. A large proportion of the Taiwanese manufacturer’s workforce are women.

It was not immediately clear how many workers are seriously ill and whether the incident would disrupt production at the plant in Sriperumbudur, which is on the outskirts of the southern city of Chennai.

Foxconn also makes phones for Xiaomi India and other smartphone players

Foxconn did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
