Delhi Capitals resumed their IPL 2021 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 22 September. Apart from the fact that DC already have 12 points from 8 matches, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer’s return from injury greatly boosts the team’s chances of making it to the play-off stage again.

DC’s South African pacer Kagiso Rabada, who won the Purple Cap last season after taking 30 wickets, believes Iyer’s return will help balance the team.

“It’s fantastic to have Shreyas back. He is a brilliant batsman and an integral part of our team. He is good for the balance of the team. I am sure he is itching to play. He is in good spirits and Looks like hitting the ball well,” the pacer was quoted as saying in an official DC release.

Rabada showed confidence ahead of the start of the UAE leg and felt that the team’s performance in the first half puts them in a good position to make it to the play-offs again.

“I think people are in a good place because we have been playing some cricket since the first half of the tournament. It’s a positive for the team. It’s good to start the second half of the season at the top of the table. However, we still have a lot to do. There is work to be done. We have given ourselves a good chance to qualify for the playoffs and make it to the finals,” Rabada said.

Delhi Capitals are currently at the second position in the IPL points table.
