Mahendra Singh Dhoni achieved a major milestone on Sunday as he took two catches behind the stumps during his team Match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Dhoni took the catches of KKR openers Venkatesh Iyer and Dinesh Karthik to become the wicket-keeper with the most catches in the Indian Premier League. What was purely coincidental was that Dhoni breaks Karthik’s record For taking most catches by a keeper in IPL by dismissing the former KKR captain himself. Dhoni now has 116 catches in IPL as against Karthik’s 115.
Karthik had a chance to either match Dhoni or get his record back during CSK’s innings, but that was not to happen as he did not get a catch. KKR were on their way to win the match but Ravindra Jadeja’s late flourish from the willow turned the match in CSK’s favour. Jadeja brought his team back into contention with the famous Krishna hitting two big sixes and two fours in the 19th.
Sunil Narine bowled a scintillating final over to take the contest off the final ball, but Deepak Chahar scored the winning run to take his team home as CSK secured a 2-wicket victory in yet another thriller It was an IPL competition.

Dhoni also holds the record for most stumpings (39) by a wicketkeeper in the IPL and most dismissals (155) by a keeper in the league. Karthik is at number two with a total of 146 dismissals.
No other wicketkeeper holds the record for more than 100 dismissals in the IPL, with Robin Uthappa at the third spot with 90 dismissals.
