Gujarat Titans are likely to replace England opener Jason Roy with Afghanistan’s hard-hitting opener Rahmamullah Gurbaz ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Roy was ruled out of the IPL as he did not want to be in the bubble. a long period.

Apart from having a career T20 strike rate of over 150 as an opener, Gurbaz is also a handy keeper, which makes him a versatile player. The most exciting aspect is the 20-year-old’s ability to clear the ropes with 113 sixes in 69 career T20 games.

He has played 9 ODIs and 12 T20 matches in his short but exciting career so far.

Gujarat Titans are yet to officially announce Gurbaaz as a replacement as they await the BCCI’s green light. But, it is understood that the team think-tank has taken extensive input from leading spinner Rashid Khan, who has also been Gurbaz’s senior in the national team.

Gurbaaz’s arrival may solve another problem for the Titans and that is the Keeping Crisis.

Matthew Wade will be available only in the second week of IPL and the only other keeper in the roster is Wriddhiman Saha, who may be forced to play despite not having such a good T20 record in recent times.

Gurbaz’s entry may ease the worries of head coach Ashish Nehra and captain Hardik Pandya.

Gurbaz has been a sought-after name in franchise cricket, having played for Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, Kandy Tuskers in the Lanka Premier League and Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League.
