Gujarat Titans is the official name of the new Ahmedabad franchise owned by CVC Capital as Hardik Pandya is all set to lead the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The name of the franchise was unveiled ahead of the second ODI between India and India. West Indies in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
The naming of the Ahmedabad franchise comes days after RPSG Group-owned Lucknow announced its official name as Lucknow Super Giants. KL Rahul will lead the Lucknow team.
“Debuting in the 15th season of the IPL, Gujarat Titans will pay tribute to the state’s rich cricketing heritage, which has produced countless Indian international cricket legends over the years. The franchise is inspired by the opportunity to represent and build upon it. Build on your cricket legacy, as well as your future success on the pitch,” the franchise said in a statement.

Gujarat Titans drafted in Hardik Pandya 15 crore as captain and Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan for Rs 15 crore. He also bought India’s young opener Shubman Gill for Rs 8 crore.
Titans will enter the mega auction with a budget of Rs 52 crore.
Gujarat Titans inducted former England cricketer Vikram Solanki as Director of Cricket. Ashish Nehra will be the head coach of the franchise while former World Cup winning coach and South African opener Gary Kirsten will be the head of cricket operations and batting coach for IPL 2022.

Gary Kirsten, Vikram Solanki and Ashish Nehra will be the brains behind their auction as the teams will be keen to have a core group and build on it. The mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
