Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) continued their resurgence after losing their first two matches by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Nitish Rana’s 54 and Andre Russell’s 49* helped KKR reach 175/8 after a flurry of early wickets. T Natarajan took three wickets for SRH, while Umran Malik took two. Then, a 94-run partnership between Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram ensured that they would secure their third successive win despite losing their openers in the powerplay. Tripathi scored 71 off 37 balls, while Markram remained unbeaten on 68 off 36 balls.

Rajasthan Royals are second in the table, Punjab Kings third and KKR fourth. Lucknow Super Giants are ranked fifth, while Royal Challengers Bangalore are in sixth and SRH are at 7th, the other teams with three wins in the tournament so far.

Delhi Capitals are in eighth place with four points from the same number of matches, while Chennai Super Kings are in ninth place, having won just one match this season.

Mumbai Indians, win-loss after five matches, are at the bottom of the table.

Friday’s match did not disturb the list of highest run-getters so far this season. Jos Buttler leads the chart with 272 runs, while Hardik Pandya is second with 228 runs. Shivam Dubey (207 runs) is third, Shubman Gill (200 runs) and Shimron Hetmyer (197 runs) are at number four and fifth respectively.

Yuzvendra Chahal, with 12 wickets, leads the race for the Purple Cap, but T Natarajan’s three wickets against KKR puts him in second place with 11 wickets so far this season. They are followed by Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and Vanindu Hasaranga at the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively, all three of whom have taken 10 wickets each.
