Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Glenn Maxwell said that Virat Kohli will definitely feel relaxed after relinquishing the captaincy and a pressure-free Kohli will be ‘dangerous news’ for opponents in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Virat Kohli stepped down as the captain of RCB after IPL 2021 and also relinquished India’s T20I captaincy. He was sacked as ODI captain earlier this year before relinquishing the Test captaincy.
RCB appointed Faf du Plessis as their new captain after weeks of speculation and the new captain said Virat Kohli’s energy and leadership experience will be crucial for the other team’s prospects in IPL 2022, starting March 26.
“He knows he is handing over the captaincy, which I think is potentially a huge burden for him. Maybe it is something that has been weighing him down for a while and now that he is ready to release it. If he has been able to, it could be dangerous news for the opposition teams,” Maxwell told the RCB podcast.
Maxwell, who shared a good rapport with Kohli after signing FR RCB last year, said he exists to see a relaxed version of Kohli, without the burden of captaincy, spend the next few years of his career. enjoy.
“It’s amazing for him to get some rest and really enjoy the next few years of his career without any outside pressure. I think playing against him in the earlier days, he was a fierce competitor, in your face. He always tries to impose himself on the game. He imposes himself on the opposition.”
measured feelings
The Australian all-rounder is loving the cricket conversation he has with Kohli and is himself surprised that the former India captain has become a close friend.
“Something else I’ve seen from him this year is that he’s really been measured by his feelings. He’s really really measured by his decision making. He’s definitely surprised me and probably how much we both care about each other.” This year has come to a close. Being able to talk about the game in a calm way,” said Maxwell.
“Because you see that over-excited in your face style when you play against him. But to play with him and have really good conversations about the game, I’ve really enjoyed it.”
