Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, has managed to impress one and all in his short stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far. On Tuesday, Mumbai Indians all-rounder Arjun picked up his first wicket in IPL 2023 by dismissing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the final over.
The 14-run win over SRH was MI’s third consecutive win in IPL 2023 and moved them to sixth on the points table. Arjun Tendulkar received a wonderful compliment from former India opener Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar sees similarities between Arjun and his legendary father Sachin Tendulkar And even termed Junior Tendulkar as a thinking cricketer.
“Everyone talks about the amazing talent that Sachin Tendulkar had at the start of his career. But it was his nature that was absolutely amazing and Arjuna seems to have inherited it. He also appears to be a shrewd thinker. It is always a good sign when a youngster bowls the last over for the team and delivers,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports Cricket Live.

Former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch believes that the young ‘Turks’ in the Mumbai Indians team stand out in the absence of big stars which is always a good sign for any team. “Youngsters have stood up for Mumbai Indians in the absence of superstars like Jasprit Bumrah and Joffer Archer. The team was missing the big guns in the first few matches but these young players have now taken it upon themselves to fulfill that,” said Finch.
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan is quite impressed with the way Cameron Green is shaping up in the ongoing IPL 2023. “Cameron Green is going to be the next superstar in world cricket. He is a talented player and we are going to see more of him as he is improving his game with each passing day,” said Irfan Pathan.
Table-toppers Rajasthan Royals are set to lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants in their first home game in IPL 2023 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday night. The Sanju Samson-led side have been in fine form and are currently at the top of the team standings with four wins from five matches.
Shimron Hetmyer played one of his best innings of the season to help Rajasthan Royals pull off an incredible run chase against defending champions Gujarat Titans. Praising Hetmyer for his match-winning knock in Ahmedabad, Gavaskar said the West Indies batsman should come up the order.
“Shimron Hetmyer has been labeled as a finisher by Rajasthan Royals but I strongly believe that he should also be allowed to bat higher up the order. If he gets to face more balls, he can score more runs and play more match-winning knocks for his team,” felt Gavaskar.
