This unpredictable weather has taken people by surprise.
Delhiites had a pleasant morning as the minimum temperature settled at 19.6 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal. It also rained in many areas, which brought much relief from the scorching heat. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 26°C which is unexpected in the month of May. Heavy rain was recorded in parts of south and outer Delhi and Noida, while other areas of the national capital received light showers.
Needless to say, this unpredictable weather has taken people by surprise. Many shared pictures and videos of the cloud cover and rain on Twitter, expressing their confusion and joy.
One user said, “Have you ever heard about rain in Delhi on 1st May?” In my nearly 2 decades here, never seen this. The sky is covered with dark clouds!” Another commented, “It’s May 1st. It was afternoon. And this is the view of the cloudy sky outside my window. Drizzle is in the air. Who would have believed that a summer afternoon could be like this.
A third said, “Is it normal for it to rain around this time of year?” I could be wrong, but as far as I remember, the last time it was hot enough was around May 22nd. Just asking!” The fourth added, “Oooh..Delhi feels like a hill station right now!”
