Hyderabad FC will look eager to get back on track and keep the pressure on the other top four teams against Odisha FC in the Indian Super League here on Tuesday. Hyderabad FC are currently at the fourth position in the points table with 12 points from seven matches. Manolo Marquez-coached outfit Mumbai City FC are three points away from the leaders and a win against Odisha will only propel them forward after losing points in their last two encounters.
Hyderabad were tied at 1-1 in their last two matches against FC Goa and SC East Bengal. Odisha, on the other hand, have not won their last three matches, losing two of them before playing a 1-1 draw against FC Goa. They are seventh in the table with 10 points from seven matches.
For Hyderabad, who have so far been one of the most balanced sides in the league, their performance against rock-bottom SC East Bengal left much to be desired. The red and gold brigade had their chances and if Daniel Cheema Chuku had converted his golden chances in the first half, things could have been different. Marquez would be well aware that his charges need to improve his performance against Odisha, who have some good attacking players but haven’t fired in recent games.
Hyderabad has been one of the best defense of the season. He has sent the fewest goals (6) and kept only one clean sheet, but has more than one goal left in a match this season. “We are in a very tough competition and every team can beat the other. With a competition like this,” Marquez said.
“Odisha has the best foreigners in the league. It will be a tough game. They have a very good team.” Meanwhile, Odisha have struggled to find the back of the net after scoring nine goals in their first two games of the season. They failed to score more than one goal in their last five matches. The good part is that Jonathan Cristian is finding his feet, scoring his second goal in the last game. He tried five shots in that match.
“Hyderabad is a compact team. They have been playing together for a long time. They have a good striker in Ogbeche. He is in good form. Bart Ogbeche scored his sixth goal of the campaign in Hyderabad’s last game and moved up to third for most ISL goalscorers for Hyderabad. He is now one goal behind Marcelinho and four goals behind Ariadne Santana for the club.
Hyderabad have won just one match out of four against Odisha in the ISL and they would like to improve that record.
