ISL: SC East Bengal rope defender Anant Tamang in Nepal

SC East Bengal have picked Nepal defender Anant Tamang for the remainder of the 2021-22 Indian Super League (ISL) season, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Tamang joins the Red-and-Golds side from Nepal side Three Star Club, where he was named the A-Division League’s Best Defender in 2020. He has made his debut for the Nepal senior national team. India in 2015

“I am happy to be associated with SC East Bengal. I look forward to helping the club in whatever way I can. It is a proud moment for me,” Tamang said.

Tamang was also the vice-captain of Nepal’s under-19 football team, which won the 2015 SAFF U-19 Championship.

SC East Bengal are all out this season, winning just one match in 18 matches so far they are at the bottom of the points table. They will take on NorthEast United FC on 28 February, followed by a match with Bengaluru FC on 5 March which will conclude their ISL 2021-22 campaign.
