Developed by scientists at ITC Life Sciences and Technology Centre, Bengaluru, the company plans to market the nasal spray under the Savlon brand once it is approved.
ITC on Thursday confirmed that it is developing a nasal spray for the prevention of COVID-19, for which it has started clinical trials.
According to sources, developed by scientists from ITC Life Sciences and Technology Centre, Bengaluru, the company plans to market the nasal spray under the Savlon brand. Confirming that clinical trials are underway, a spokesperson declined to comment on where the tests were being conducted.
Sources said the firm had obtained approval from the ethics panel and is registered with the Clinical Trials Registry-India for the trial. The spray is designed to stop the virus at its entry point into the nasal cavity itself.
