BENGALURU: The Indian Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) said in an official statement on Monday that it has started authorizing Indian private firms.
Reiterating its role as an autonomous, single-window nodal agency constituted to promote, authorize, monitor and supervise the space activities of Non-Government Private Entities (NGPEs), IN-SPACe said: “ Digantara Research and Technology from Bangalore and pole space It was authorized to launch its payload on 24 June from Hyderabad.
According to the statement, Dhruv’s Dhruv Space Satellite Orbital Deployer – (DSOD 1U), a technology demonstration payload and DigantrasRobust Integrating Proton Fluence meter (ROBI), a proton dosimeter payload has been authorized and will fly onboard PSLV The Orbital Experimental Module (POEM) of the PSLV-C53 mission is scheduled for launch on June 30.
TOI was the first to report that both these companies have been authorized by IN-SPACe.

IN-SPACE CHAIRMAN Pawan Kumar Goenkasaid: “The first two authorizations issued by In-Space are an important milestone and mark the beginning of the private space sector’s launch in India. Digantara will launch a weather satellite that can be used to weather from space using their patented technology. Dhruv will test its satellite deployer technology which can be deployed for future international customers. This marks the beginning of exciting times ahead for the Indian space sector. Private sector participation in this journey will be encouraged. IN-SPACe is delighted to facilitate this.”
Director of IN-SPACe Promotion Directorate Vinod Kumar said that the authorization was granted on the sidelines of the National Conference on “Development of Space Start-up Ecosystem in India (DeSSEI)”.
“PSLV C53 mission is an important milestone. mission will show cubesat Prior to the launch of our satellite missions, Thybolt-1 and Thybolt-2 on PSLV C54 mission, have been developed in-house. It will also enable Dhruv to support international customers with CubeSat deployers, integration and launch services,” said Sanjay Nekanti, CEO, Dhruv Space.
