Jai Ram Thakur expects Congress to present issues democratically before Himachal monsoon session

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India]Aug 9 (ANI): Ahead of the start of the state assembly session on Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur chaired the party’s legislature party meeting in Shimla on Tuesday evening.

Here he discussed the issues to be raised in the House of the Legislative Assembly.

Speaking exclusively to ANI this evening, Thakur said, “The monsoon session of the assembly is going to start from tomorrow. As per the tradition, we have held a meeting of the BJP Legislature Party this evening. Here we all discussed the issues to be raised in the House. I firmly believe that like last 4 years our MLAs are ready to face the issues to be raised in the Vidhan Sabha. We will speak strongly on various subjects before the Speaker of the Assembly.

“I hope the Congress party will present the issues of the people in a democratic manner in the House,” the Chief Minister told ANI.

The three-day monsoon session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will begin from Wednesday. This decision was taken by the state cabinet in a meeting held recently under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, in which it was decided to recommend to the Governor to convene the monsoon session of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in four sittings.

Meanwhile, Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar on Monday said that he would consider the Congress’ plea seeking disqualification of the membership of two independent MLAs from the House in the upcoming assembly session.

Parmar addressed the media persons in Shimla to brief them about the upcoming assembly session. Businessman-turned-politician Prakash Rana, an independent MLA from Jogindernagar and Hoshiar Singh, MLA from Dehra, had joined the BJP on June 8 in the presence of CM Jai Ram Thakur and party chief Suresh Kashyap.

Agnihotri and senior Congress MLA Nand Lal filed a petition seeking the Speaker to disqualify both of them.

Notably, this State Assembly session is important as the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections will be held this year to elect the 68 members of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

The term of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is set to end in January 2023. The last assembly elections were held in November 2017. After the election, the Bharatiya Janata Party formed the state government, with Jai Ram Thakur as the chief minister. (ANI)
