Jamia students boycott online classes, demand in-person classes

first year students Jamia Millia Islamia Boycotted online classes from Monday demanding complete reopening of the campus. The varsity resumed offline classes for its final year students, however, the first year classes are yet to reopen. A leading news agency reported that students of 26 departments boycotted online classes on Monday.

According to the students, they had appealed to the administration, submitted memorandums to their respective HODs and staged a protest. Still, the Jamia administration has not resumed individual classes. Hence, the students had collectively decided to boycott the online classes from April 11 till their demand is met. The online classes of the second semester were to start from Monday.

The students have demanded a complete reopening of the campus for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He also demanded issuance of notice for hostel allotment and a proper academic calendar by May 2-3 or before Eid.

The departments which boycotted classes include Economics, History, Sociology, Psychology, Geography, Biotech, Physics, Aeronautics, Unani Pharmacy, Mass Media, BBA, English, French, Urdu, Persian, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, Islamic Studies etc. Huh.

Jamia resumed offline classes for PG students on March 2, while for UG students, it opened on March 15. For the rest of the year including the first year, the university is yet to decide.

The students have highlighted that the Delhi government had allowed the resumption of classes from March 31 and they are “unable to understand the reasons for the delay in resuming offline classes” for the rest of the students. He has sought an update from the university in this regard. Same.
