Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said on Saturday that Janata Dal (Secular) candidate from Sindagi constituency, Shivanand Patil, died of a heart attack late on Friday night.
Shivanand Patil, 54, was recently announced as the party’s candidate for the next assembly elections from the Sindagi constituency.
Mr Patil was immediately rushed to the hospital where he died on Friday night.
HD Kumaraswamy condoled the sudden demise of Mr. Patil.
“The untimely death of Shri Shivanand Patil of @JanataDal_S, party candidate from Sindgi assembly constituency has left me deeply shocked. I am personally deeply saddened by the demise of Shri Shivanand Patil. I pray that his soul rest in peace and the family Granted strength to bear the pain,” the minister tweeted in Kannada.
Kumaraswamy said, “Mr. Patil, who retired after selfless service in the Army, had an indomitable desire for social service. He had excellent organizational skills and dynamism and became very dear to me within a short time of his acquaintance. “
JD(U) also expressed grief over the demise of Mr. Patil. “Deeply saddened to inform that Shri Shivanand Patil, JDS candidate from Sindgi Assembly Constituency passed away untimely due to heart attack. On this occasion, we pray that his family gets the strength to bear this loss. Come Let us pray for the peace of the departed soul.” in peace.”
Shivanand Patil is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
