Kolkata, May 13 (PTI) JCI said on Tuesday that it will start purchasing raw jute at the minimum support price (MSP) for 2025-26 seasons from July.
The Center has fixed the TD -3 variety for the jute year starting from July, MSP for benchmark grade, benchmark grade at Rs 5,650 per quintal, which is above Rs 5,335 per quintal in the previous year.
Jute Corporation of India (JCI) managing director Ajay KR Jolly said that sowing is expected to increase by 10 percent in the year, and production is likely to increase.

JCI has procured Rs 5.05 lakh quintal at Rs 252 crore so far in 2024-25 jute year, and the MSP window for the current crop year will remain open till June.
In the erstwhile jute season (July-June), the purchase was 13.17 lakh quintals due to a bumper crop.
The government-leading procurement agency operates 110 direct procurement centers and helps farmers with 25 outsourced to stop the sale of crisis directly, to purchase raw jute.
“JCI will absorb any amount of jute directly from farmers, without any roof,” Jolly said.
With the vision of modernization of jute cultivation, JCI also intends to modernize the supply chain through blockchain technology and the introduction of an e-auction platform.
