New Delhi [India]Jan 24 (ANI): Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) National President HD Deve Gowda will not attend the concluding meeting of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar. Deve Gowda shared the letter written to Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge on Twitter and informed the Congress chief about it.
“I was invited by Shri Mallikarjuna @kharge to be a part of the concluding meeting of the @bharatjodo yatra in Srinagar. I am unable to attend, but I heartily appreciate what Rahul Gandhi has achieved by walking across the country for goodwill.
The JDS chief and former Prime Minister of India informed about his absence but did not give any specific reason.
“Dear Shri Mallikarjun Khargeji, Many thanks for your letter inviting me to the closing ceremony of the Bharat Jodo Yatra on 10th January 2023. It is very appropriate that the function is being organized on the day when the Father of the Nation was martyred,” read the letter.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra is going to end on January 30, the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948.
“I cannot attend the ceremony, but my best wishes are with Mr. Rahul Gandhi. He is fighting hatred and violence and has walked 3500 kms from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to spread the message of harmony among the people. Kindly express my deep appreciation to him,” the letter further said.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began in Kanyakumari on September 7, will conclude in Srinagar on January 30 after covering 3,970 kms, 12 states and two union territories. (ANI)
