‘Jealous? Can’t See Someone Outshine?’ BJP Raps Congress Over Shashi Tharoor Row – News18

Amit Malviya said that Congress suggesting Syed Naseer Hussain’s name cannot be overlooked as one of his supporters raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans inside Vidhana Soudha.

Fresh Congress vs BJP comes amidst discussions on Centre’s decision to involve Tharoor in its diplomatic outreach program following Pahalgam attack.

A fresh war of words has erupted between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, hours after it emerged that Shashi Tharoor — a veteran of the grand old party — was not even on the list of recommendations sent by the party to be a part of a key delegation. This government-selected team has been assigned the responsibility to present India’s “zero tolerance” policy on terrorism.

The BJP has acknowledged Congress MP Shashi Tharoor‘s impressive international credentials and eloquence but questioned his standing within his own party.

These comments arose amidst discussions concerning the Centre’s decision to involve Tharoor in its diplomatic outreach program following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent military operation against Pakistan, known as Operation Sindoor.

Amit Malviya, the head of BJP’s IT cell, has raised serious concerns about the Congress party’s choices for representing India at diplomatic meetings.

He remarked, “The inclusion of Syed Naseer Hussain in an Indian delegation is truly shocking. We cannot overlook that one of his supporters raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans inside the Vidhana Soudha while celebrating his Rajya Sabha victory.” Bengaluru police arrested three individuals in connection with the incident based on forensic reports, circumstantial evidence, and witness testimonies.

Malviya also commented on Gaurav Gogoi, saying, “The less said about Gaurav Gogoi, the better.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused Gogoi of spending 15 days in Pakistan, with his arrival and departure records officially noted at the Atari border. Sarma alleged that Gogoi’s wife, Elizabeth Colebourn, accompanied him for the first seven days before returning to India, while Gogoi remained in Islamabad. Upon his return, Gogoi reportedly took around 90 youths to the Pakistan Embassy, many of whom were unaware of their destination.

Furthermore, Sarma has alleged that Elizabeth Colebourn maintained links with the Pakistan Army and continued to receive a salary from Pakistan, raising serious concerns about national security and conflict of interest. Malviya questioned, “How can MPs facing such grave allegations be trusted to represent India, particularly on matters involving Pakistan? What message is the Congress trying to send, and whose interests are really being served?”

Amit Malvya further said, “No one can deny Shashi Tharoor’s eloquence, his extensive experience as a United Nations official, and his profound insights on foreign policy. So why has the Congress Party, particularly Rahul Gandhi, not nominated him for the multi-party delegations being sent abroad to present India’s stance on key issues? Is it insecurity, jealousy, or simply an intolerance of anyone who outshines the ‘high command’?”
