JEE Advanced 2021: Major changes made in IIT entrance this year

Registration cum application process for admission in IIT – Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE) Advanced 2021 Tomorrow, 20th September will end on the official website – jeeadv.ac.in. The last date for payment of fees is September 21. The admit card is likely to be released after September 25 and the exam is scheduled to be held on October 3. Every year, those in the top 2.5 lakh ranks. One can apply for JEE Main IIT admission.

JEE Advanced 2021: Women’s Quota

This year, the number of seats reserved for women will be decided by each IIT individually. Unlike last year when the women quota was fixed at 20 per cent. However, for 2021, IITs will have to ensure that women have at least 20 per cent enrollment in each IIT. However the seats offered under the women quota are of supernatural nature, which means that seats are created in addition to the existing seats.

Apart from women quota, 15 percent reservation is made for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5 percent for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 5 percent for Persons with Disabilities (PWD). IITs also have EWS and foreign quota which are supernumerary.

JEE Advanced 2021: Last year’s candidates allowed

Candidates who had qualified for JEE Advanced 2020 but were absent due to COVID-19 related restrictions will also be given a chance to appear for IIT admissions this year. These candidates need not clear JEE Main again this year. Such candidates will be treated as “Additional” in the current batch and will not be part of the same.

JEE Advanced 2021: board exam marks rule changed

Earlier students had to score at least 75 per cent marks in class 12 to be eligible for IIT admission. But now that rule has been removed. Students now only need to qualify the board exam to be eligible to apply for admission.

In 2020, IIT Delhi was the conducting institute for JEE Advanced, however, this year, IIT-Kharagpur will conduct the exam.

JEE Advanced 2021: Foreign candidates will take the exam in India

this year, JEE Advanced 2021 will not be conducted abroad due to the pandemic. Generally there are many exam centers abroad for the candidates residing outside India. IIT Kharagpur had earlier notified, “In view of the prevailing pandemic situation due to COVID-19 in India and abroad, it has been decided not to conduct JEE Advanced 2021 in any foreign centre/country.”
