JEE Main 100 percentile scorer from Jharkhand thrilled with engineering, aiming for a seat in IIT Bombay

Kushagra Srivastava from Ranchi, Jharkhand is among the 14 students who have scored 100 percentile in the national level engineering exam – JEE Main 2022, The topper said that he has been fond of engineering since childhood and till now he remains interested in it. It was his interest in core subjects, which he claimed helped him crack the exam. Now his target is to crack IIT entrance, JEE Advanced. He aims to grab a seat in the prestigious IIT Bombay. He wants to do B.Tech in Computer Science.

The 17-year-old claimed that he did not devote much time for Mains as his focus was always on JEE Advanced. Kushagra started his preparation for IIT after class 10 board in March of 2020. “I studied for 6 to 7 hours every day for JEE Advanced. for CBSE Board, I started preparing just a month before the exam.”

To practice his test-taking skills, he heavily relied on mock tests. For his preparation he studied only from NCERT and also class notes which he got from his coaching class, Allen Career Institute, Kota.

Kushagra claims that his favorite subject is mathematics because it is “provocative and fun”. In addition, he wants to advance in the technical field of computer science. His hobbies include painting and playing badminton.

While his father, Santosh Kumar is a Government Executive Engineer, his mother, Neelam Lata is a Joint Secretary under the Government of Jharkhand. A student of CBSE Board Bridgeford School, Tupudana, he is still waiting for his class 12 results, which are likely to be declared by this month. He did his class 10 from CISCE board St Xavier’s School, Doranda, which he cleared in 2020 with 97.8 per cent marks. Thereafter, he started his preparation for JEE.

In the first session, 14 students secured 100 percentile, however, are yet to be out of the top ranks. Rank 1 will be announced only after the announcement of JEE Main session 2 exam, which is scheduled to begin from July 21. In Session 1, 7,69,589 out of a total of 8,72,432 students who registered for the exam took the exam. Examination Of the 14 students who secured 100 percentile in JEE Main Session 1, four are from Telangana, followed by three from Andhra Pradesh and one each from Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Jharkhand, Punjab and Karnataka.
