According to Jeep, the name is inspired by the ’77th Meridian East’ longitude line that runs through the length of India and connects some of the most beautiful states and cultures. Jeep Said that the meridian has been tested on all types of terrain in India. According to Nipun J Mahajan, Head of Jeep India, the company took the SUV on a journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, covering a distance of over 5,000 km, testing its performance on various parameters of build quality, engineering and capability. . Jeep claims that the Meridian will pack in performance, looks, comfort as well as off-roading prowess unmatched in its class.
Along with the name, the company also revealed a camouflage version of the SUV. That said, the upcoming 7-seater SUV is expected to feature the same front fascia as the Compass. The dashboard layout of the Meridian could also be similar to that of its 5-seat mid-size SUV sibling. However, the Meridian will be offered with both 6- and 7-seat configurations.
While specifications and pricing will be announced closer to its launch in mid-2022, the Meridian will sit above the Compass in Jeep India’s portfolio, and will be priced north of Rs 35 lakh.
