Jeff Bezos will give away most of his $124 billion fortune during his lifetime: CNN

Bezos, who steps down as Amazon’s chief executive in 2021, owns about 10% of the ecommerce giant.

Amazon.com Inc. founder Jeff Bezos will give away the majority of his $124 billion fortune over his lifetime, the billionaire told CNN in an interview today.

Without providing further details, Bezos said that he and fellow journalist-turned-philanthropist Lauren Sanchez were “building the capacity to be able to give this money away”.

The billionaire has pledged $10 billion to fight climate change and protect nature through the Bezos Earth Fund, where he is executive chairman.

The fund did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
