Jennifer Aniston in ‘Murder Mystery 2’

Jennifer Aniston’s upcoming film “Murder Mystery 2” has a unique India connect: The “Friends” actor wore a Manish Malhotra lehenga for an Indian wedding sequence in the Netflix film.

The streaming platform shared the film’s trailer on Twitter on Monday night, in which Aniston is seen attending the ceremony as a bridesmaid.

According to Malhotra’s team, famed Hollywood costume designer Debra McGuire chose the ivory-coloured chikankari lehenga because it was a beach wedding scene.

The dress, which took about three months to make, featured “graduating rectangular motifs, intricately embroidered floral blouse with pearl drops and a handmade back tassel”.

Directed by Jeremy Gellick, “Murder Mystery 2” takes place four years after Nick and Audrey Spitz (Adam Sandler, Aniston) solve their first murder mystery.

The two are now full-time detectives struggling to get their private eye agency off the ground when they are invited to their friend, the Maharaja’s (Adeel Akhtar) private island to celebrate their wedding.

“Trouble follows Spitz again when the groomsmen are kidnapped for ransom shortly after the festivities begin – making every glamorous guest, family member and the bride herself a suspect,” reads the plot.

The film also stars Mark Strong, Melanie Laurent, Jodie Turner-Smith, Kuhu Verma along with John Kani and Danny Boon.

James Vanderbilt wrote the film. Vanderbilt is also producing, along with Sandler, Aniston, Tripp Vinson, James D. Stern, AJ Dix and Ellen Covert.

Joseph Vesey, Judit Maul and Jonathan Loughran serve as co-producers.

‘Murder Mystery 2’ will start streaming on Netflix from March 31.
