Jet Airways accelerates recruitment, 10 thousand applications have been received since January

Mumbai Jet Airways has received more than 10,000 applications in the last six months, indicating that there will be a lull in the aviation sector in the coming months. The airline, which shut down and ceased operations in 2019, has received nearly 2,000 applications in the past one week after it asked its former cabin crew members to apply for upcoming flights.

“Since inviting applications from ex-cabin crew of Jet Airways on June 24, we have received around 2,000 applications. For other managerial positions that we have advertised over the past few months, we have received a few thousand applications,” said Nakul Tuteja, vice president of human resources and administration for the airline.

On 24 June, the airline invited applications from former crew members and 700 applications were received within the first five hours. The airline, which had received the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the civil aviation regulator in May, said “unsolicited applications” were coming in since January.

“In the last six months (since January), we have received over 10,000 unsolicited applications apart from those received for specific openings. Once we have decided on our aircraft choice, we will begin hiring soon for operational roles other than cabin crew in line with our business plan. Many operational roles depend on the aircraft we want to operate with,” Tuteja said.

Jet’s hiring comes at a time when talks have resumed in the aviation sector, with Tata returning to Air India booming and billionaire Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air hoping to start its services in July. Is. “Airlines are seeking to come back and we are getting inquiries for cabin crew from existing and upcoming airlines. There are hiring drives that will be conducted soon,” said the founder of a mid-tier airline crew training company, who did not wish to be named.

“We are seeing high job drop levels in some airlines and, therefore, there is a movement of talent within and outside the industry,” Tuteja said.
