The Jharkhand government said in a statement that the girls of the state showed tremendous courage and patience during the pandemic.

Gumla native Poornima Kumari, who has been selected for the camp, said that her training in Goa was affected due to the pandemic, but she could practice in Jharkhand with the help of the state government.
“There was no training facility in my village, especially for the girls playing football. But, the help and support from the state ensured that I could play.”
The statement said that the seven girls were training in Goa in February-March 2021, but due to the pandemic they had to return to Jharkhand and arrangements were made for training in Ranchi.
“To provide assistance to these girls, football kits were provided by the sports department and t-shirts were provided by UNICEF. UNICEF has identified the selected players as Champions of Change for Child Rights.
The Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa’s Margao and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host the World Cup in October. The draw for the tournament will take place on June 24 in Zurich, Switzerland.
