‘Jhund’ is the Hindi directorial debut of Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, known for the Marathi blockbuster ‘Sairat’ and the critically acclaimed 2013 drama ‘Fandry’. In it, Bachchan will be seen as Vijay Barse, a retired sports teacher from Nagpur, who leads a slum football movement.

‘Jhund’ was originally slated to open in theaters in 2020 and was later postponed to June 2021, but was pushed further due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
