Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India]Jan 5 (ANI): Reliance Jio on Thursday launched its 5G services in Odisha – starting with Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
“The temple city of Bhubaneswar and the silver city of Cuttack will be the first cities to receive Jio True 5G services starting today,” Reliance Jio said in a release.
The launch was done in the presence of Union Minister for Communications Ashwini Vaishnav and Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan. Jio said the launch comes at an opportune time as the city prepares to host the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup later this month.
At a special event in state capital Bhubaneswar, Jio created a unique True 5G Experience Zone and showcased the wide-ranging benefits of 5G.
A Jio spokesperson said in the release that the Jio 5G network will rapidly expand across the state covering the cities of Rourkela, Berhampur, Puri, Sambalpur and Balasore by February 2023 and subsequently reach all tehsils and taluks by December 2023.
“We feel very fortunate with the love Jio has received in Odisha. Jio commands over two-thirds of the data market share. Two out of every three smartphone users in Odisha use Jio. Because of the transformative power of this technology and the exponential benefits it can provide, Jio engineers are working round the clock to deliver True-5G to every person in Odisha,” the spokesperson said in the statement.
