In a 30-hour search operation, an Indian Army team has tracked and rescued a Hungarian civilian who lost his way while trekking across the Umsila Pass in the Himalayan ranges. The army, through its official statement, informed that the man was a lone traveler named Akos Worms, 38, from Budapest, Hungary, who was rescued from the treacherous glacial heights of Umasila in the Sumcham valley of the Paddar region in Kishtwar. According to the Indian Army, the traveler lost his way during the mountaineering expedition and was exposed to bad weather for five days.
“The passenger was traced through a joint effort of ground and aerial surveillance teams, who conducted a search operation. The solo passenger was medically examined by an Indian Army doctor at a district hospital in Kishtwar, who provided immediate medical assistance to the foreign national. of,” the statement read.

As soon as the passenger regained stability, a video call was made by DC Kishtwar to the Hungarian Embassy to inform them about his well being.
Both the District Administration of Kishtwar and the Embassy of Hungary highly appreciated the efforts of the Army and Air Force, who once again upheld their fine tradition of selfless service. Teams of Indian Army Rashtriya Rifles stationed at Dul, Kishtwar and Indian Air Force, Udhampur carried out a 30-hour long search and rescue operation in the snowy and remote upper range of Machail Paddar in coordination with the District Administration of Kishtwar.
