John Abraham: ‘Satyamev Jayate 2’ is for general audience, not specific audience

After the release of the trailer, it has received a lot of negative reactions on social media, John opened up on his thoughts in a conversation with IANS.

John told IANS, “First of all, our film ‘Satyamev Jayate 2’ is made for the general audience and not the niche people. People who buy tickets go to theatres, especially the single screen theaters in small towns. The audience of, they are not bothered about the reviews and critical explanations. They want entertainment.

“So their enthusiasm is reflected in the box-office collections as well. For us, actors and producers, that is the most important factor. I should also mention that between what is happening on social media and how it is happening There is a clear disconnect. Box-office collections played out. We made this film clearly for the audiences who came to see ‘Satyamev Jayate’.

He further added, “Before the release so we as producers of the film are more concerned about everything with the number of screens, the first day collections and the business of the film. After the pandemic now things are back, theatrical. The release and bringing people back to the theatres is very important to boost the business.”

The film is directed by Milap Zaveri, produced by T-Series Films and Emmay Entertainment, and also stars Divya Khosla Kumar, Harsh Chhaya, Anup Soni, Gautami Kapoor, among others.

Talking about his character in the film, John said, “I knew I would be playing two characters, one who is inspired by the first part of the film and the other one that of a police officer. They are twin brothers and when the story is about to take place, the film will be a part of the film.” Going to the flashback, I am also playing the role of father of these two youths.

“Initially, I was not convinced to play the father’s character, but eventually, I did. That character is set in a different time and era. Whereas the story of DSP Jai and Satya is set in the present day. Though this is the first time When I played a police officer, as you know I played a real life iconic personality like late DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav in ‘Batla House’ but playing DSP Jai was very different. He is a noble but funny man who takes off his uniform and goes face-to-face with a vigilante. It will be fun for our viewers to watch the characters.”

‘Satyamev Jayate 2’ will hit the theaters on November 25.
