Punjab: In a shocking incident on Thursday, April 13, a traffic police constable was dragged on the bonnet of a car for nearly a kilometer in Punjab’s Ludhiana district. Constable Hardeep Singh signaled the car to stop.

Instead of stopping, the silver colored metallic car hit the policeman, knocking him on his bonnet. Police said that after this the driver took Singh on the bonnet and drove towards Jalandhar bypass for about one kilometer. He said that both the occupants of the car have been identified and both have criminal antecedents.

A video purportedly of the incident is doing the rounds on social media in which the constable is seen sitting precariously on the bonnet of the car.

The accused has not been caught yet

According to police, the constable slipped from the bonnet after the car slowed down due to heavy traffic. However, the car riders managed to escape along with the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Ludhiana’s Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramandeep Singh said the occupants of the car have been identified and will be arrested soon. He said sections 307 (attempt to murder), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 279 (highly A case has been registered under IPC (driving at speed). An Indian Penal Code (IPC) case has been registered.
