Jonny Bairstow can’t wait to get back in England jersey: This winter has been tough

Bairstow has been out of international action since August 2022 after suffering a horrific leg injury. Bairstow suffered a leg fracture in September 2022 while playing golf. He tripped while trying to regain his balance and was overcompensated, resulting in a broken fibula in three places and a dislocated ankle. He underwent surgery a week later and was ruled out for the rest of the year, including England’s T20 World Cup campaign.

Bairstow has since made a full recovery and was named in England’s squad for the one-off Test against Ireland in May 2023.

His highest score was 136 against New Zealand at Trent Bridge. He had scored 114 against India at Lord’s and 106 against South Africa at Headingley before the injury.
