Enrollment process under the first phase of counseling Joint Seat Allotment Authority (JoSA) 2021 Ended at 8 pm on 31 October. In the first phase of JoSAA, 52,453 seats have been allotted to the candidates. According to the report of Live Hindustan, most of the IIT seats in the country have been occupied in the first phase itself.

Computer Science is the first choice of students in the ongoing enrollment in IITs across the country. It is also the most sought subject in IIT Patna. The seats of IIT Patna are almost full in the first list itself. After the enrollment process for the first list, about 500 students out of 547 seats in IIT Patna had already enrolled.

The seats are almost full in CSE as well as Mechanical stream. Few seats are left in metrological and metallurgical engineering. Talking about the exact numbers, at present there are 67 seats in Chemical Engineering, 67 in Civil Engineering, 83 in Computer Science Engineering, 83 in Mechanical Engineering, 83 in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and 44 in Metrological and Metallurgical Engineering.
IIT Bombay emerges as the first choice of toppers
This year IIT Bombay is number one in the top rankers’ choice list of JEE Advanced 2021. Out of the top 100 ranks, more than 55 students have chosen IIT as their first choice. It is followed by IIT Delhi as around 35 students have opted for it. Few students have taken up IIT Kanpur in the top 100 list.

The candidates who could not clear the first list have a chance to secure a seat in the second round. The list for the second round of combined counseling will be released on November 1 at 5 pm. Students who will be allotted colleges and seats in the second round will have to submit the seat acceptance fee and upload the documents. The last date to complete the formalities is November 3 till 5 pm.
