NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Thursday remanded NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha and HR head Amit Chakravarty in judicial custody till December 1.
Additional sessions judgen Hardeep Kaur sent both the accused to jail after they were produced before the court on expiry of their nine-day police custody.
Purkayastha and Chakravartyhave been booked under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) by Delhi Police over allegations that they received foreign funds to further pro-China propaganda through the news portal and disrupt the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.They were arrested on October 3 and were initially sent to seven days’ police custody, before being remanded in judicial custody till October 20, which was subsequently extended till October 25.
