Marnus Labuschagne may have played just 22 Tests, but he is already a fan favorite and lest not because of his insatiable hunger to score runs but also for his antics. Be it his self-praise while going for runs (or not) or while batting or the quirky manner in which he drops the ball apart from Steve Smith, Labuschagne has an uncanny ability to keep the audience hooked.
Watch: Stuart Broad Castles Marnus Labuschagne in ‘Weird’ Way
Friday was just another occasion that adds to Labuschagne’s growing legend. Batting on the first day of the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Ashes 2021-22, the Australian batsman shuffled off-side for a cheeky shot against Stuart Broad, but his spike slipped as luck slipped and he found himself found below. All fours and all three stumps were exposed.
The ball, due to his misfortune, pitched over the middle and duly crashed onto the stumps, ending his impressive innings of 44 – 36 runs, the lone of which came in the boundary.
The video of the dismissal quickly went viral on social media, and Labuschagne himself later reacted to it.
“How did you go today?” “Yeah, just got a good one,” wrote the 27-year-old on Twitter.
Labuschagne fell during a difficult moment when he was in the middle of repairing the Australian innings, which faltered after losing David Warner, Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith for 12 runs within 10 overs.

Labuschagne, along with comeback Travis Head, added 71 runs for the fourth wicket, which was broken when Broad was cast.
Head scored a century before getting out. Play on the opening day was called off due to bad weather and the rain ended early.
Australia were 241/6 in 59.3 overs when play was stopped due to light drizzle which eventually turned heavy. Eventually, the rest of the play was called off.
