Senior Congress leader Kamal Nath has resigned as the Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. According to reports, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has also accepted Kamal Nath’s resignation.
Senior Congress leader and MLA from Lahar constituency of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Govind Singh has been appointed as the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party and hence the Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
In a letter dated April 28, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal wrote to Nath, “You are informed that the Hon’ble Congress President has accepted your resignation from the post of Leader, Congress Legislature Party, Madhya Pradesh with immediate effect. Party CLP Heartily appreciates your contribution as a leader, Madhya Pradesh.”
Venugopal said, “The Hon’ble Congress President has also approved the proposal to appoint Dr. Govind Singh as the leader of Congress Legislature Party, Madhya Pradesh.”
Madhya Pradesh assembly elections are due at the end of next year.
