Kanwar Yatra: Delhi Police made security, traffic arrangements

In view of the Kanwar Yatra, Delhi Police has made elaborate security arrangements as a large number of Kanwariyas will reach Delhi and some of them will go to Haryana and Rajasthan via Delhi borders.

In view of this, Delhi Traffic Police has made arrangements to isolate the movement of Kanwariyas and other road users from July 14 to July 26 and minimize inconvenience to the general public and devotees. Police personnel have also been instructed to ensure proper barricading. Lighting, and measures of fire safety, and maintaining a register to record the entry and exit of each of the Kanwariyas.

Delhi Police said kanwariyaso They are expected to walk from Delhi to their destinations from July 14 and their movement will increase in the days after July 21.

Kanwaria will enter the East District from the Maharajpur and Ghazipur check posts and will leave for their destination from Delhi. East Delhi will be a transit point on the route for Kanwariyas coming from different states like Haryana, Rajasthan and others.

A total of 1,925 police personnel have been deployed for traffic regulation, and over 56 cranes and motorcycles are also deployed on main roads and stretches for smooth flow of traffic during the Kawar Yatra, a release said.

“Updated information on these platforms is available on a 24×7 basis. Devotees and road users are advised to follow the traffic rules and follow the instructions of the policemen on duty. During this period of movement of kanwariyas, there are no reports of traffic violations. Investigation will be done on-spot prosecution and photography/videography of the violation, which will be followed up by the prosecution,” the police said.

The Delhi Police also specified routes for devotees carrying ‘kanwars’.

– Apsara Border, Shahdara Flyover, Seelampur ‘T’-Point, ISBT Flyover, Boulevard Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Faiz Road, Upper Ridge Road, Dhaula Kuan, NH-8 and exit Rajokri Border for Haryana.

– Exit at Bhopura Border, Wazirabad Road, Wazirabad Bridge, Outer Ring Road, Mukarba Chowk, NH-1 and Singhu Border or Madhuban Chowk, Peeragarhi and exit Tikri Border for Haryana

– Exit for Haryana from Maharajpur Border, Road No. 56, Ghazipur Border, NH 24, Ring Road, Mathura Road and Badarpur Border.

Bhopura Border, Wazirabad Road, Loni Flyover, Gokulpuri ‘T’ Point, 66 Futa Road, Seelampur ‘T’ Point, NH 1 and onwards towards New ISBT Bridge.

Other routes are Kalindi Kunj, Mathura Road, Badarpur Border; Kalindi Kunj, Mathura Road, Modi Mill, Maa Anand Mai Marg, MB Road; Vande Mataram Marg, Upper Ridge Road New Delhi; New Rohtak Road (from Kamal Tea Point to Tikri Border); and Najafgarh Road (from Zakhira to Najafgarh).

Apart from these important roads and intersections, the movement of Kanwariyas is seen in small numbers at many places across Delhi.

Police said heavy transport vehicles will be diverted by Uttar Pradesh Police from Mohan Nagar towards NH-24 and such traffic will not be allowed to move towards Bhopra and/or GT Road towards Wazirabad Road via Apsara Border. Will be given, said the police.

Heavy commercial transport vehicles coming from GT Karnal Road on Outer Ring Road except city buses will be diverted directly towards NH-24 and will not be allowed on Wazirabad Road and GT Road towards Shahdara. The police announced some more diversions.

These days many places experience traffic congestion/blockage due to movement of Kanwariyas and setting up of “Kanwadiya Camps” along the roads.

Police said that there is heavy traffic jam on Rani Jhansi Road from Baraf Khana Chowk to Fire Station Boulevard Road and Azad Market Chowk, Gokalpuri Flyover, 66 Futa Road, Maujpur Chowk, Badarpur ‘T’-Point, Mathura Road. Similarly traffic jam is experienced from Dhaula Kuan Metro Station to Rajokri Border on NH-8. Due to the diverting of traffic of vehicles going from Apsara border and Maharajpur border to Ghazipur by UP Police, the situation of jam will also remain on NH-24.

The police advised the organizers of the Kanwar camp to ensure that they obtain prior permission from the competent authority for setting up the “Kanwari Camp” and ensure that their camp does not obstruct the free flow of traffic on the main carriageway.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth movement of kanwar yatris as well as to maintain law and order in the eastern district. Maximum police personnel of the Eastern District will be on the ground for these arrangements with the aim of preventing any disturbance, maintaining proper law and order in and around the camps as well as on the routes followed by the Kanwariyas. Along with will ensure smooth passage. For Kanwariyas with minimum inconvenience to the general public.

Sixteen camps are being set up for Kanwariyas in the Eastern District.

“The CCTVs are also being arranged in the camps in coordination with the civic agencies. Apart from this, all anti-terrorist measures have also been taken. Regular anti-sabotage checks will be conducted in all the 16 camps, morchas, and lofts in this regard. are being set up. Rapid response teams and MPVs have been deployed at sensitive places along the route as well as in camps,” the police said.
